We are so proud to announce that TSC earned the highly coveted HOPE Award from the Salisbury VA.

The Healthy Outcomes and Program Excellence Award is given each year to a program serving homeless Veterans. We were presented with this award for the Servant House Program.

Here is a quote from the Director of the Salisbury VA:
“On behalf of the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, I am proud to announce we have presented the HOPE Award to The Servant Center (TSC), who has provided homeless services to Veterans since 1999.

Since its inception, the agency has provided transitional and permanent housing for homeless Veterans and their local community. TSC has onsite case managers, a disability specialist,  and access to Nursing services. They facilitate on-site life skill groups to include: seeking safety, budgeting, meditation, team building, men factor 101, computer basics, and in-house recovery groups for those recovering from Substance Use Disorders. TSC was selected for the HOPE award for the following reasons: 1) the agency has successfully transitioned 67% of their residents into permanent housing, as well as assisted  88% of residents in securing income; 2) the agency has an on-site library and computer lab; 3) 90% of their residents participate in recreational activities offered by the program; 4) the agency involves Veterans in the program through weekly Community Meetings and case manager meetings; 5) Veterans participate in 12 to 16 hours of community service per month; 6) TSC encourages graduates to stay connected to services through annual cookouts, and other social events.  One Veteran stated: “ I think that it finally put me on the right track. To live the kind of life a Veteran who served this country deserve to live.  I have got to commend the staff. The staff is an excellent staff. They provide great services that will carry me through the rest of  my life.”
